In support of 21st Century Legacy and the National Launch of Be the Best you can Be! HRH, the Princess Royal, said: "Be the Best you can Be! Programme is a great way to help to fulfil the promise that the London 2012 Olympic Games would be an inspiration to the youth of Britain and the rest of the world. The Programme, which inspires, engages and empowers young people, gives them the opportunity to find their unique potential and to follow their dreams."
Lord Sebastian Coe, LOCOG Chairman, has also given his support and said: "When London won the right to host the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, we made a clear promise to use the power of the 2012 Games to inspire young people." He added "LOCOG are doing this through many channels - in particular through our London 2012 education programme - Get Set. There are now over 16,500 schools and colleges in the UK using Get Set, delivering exciting work around the Olympic Values of friendship, excellence and respect and the Paralympic Values of inspiration, courage, determination and equality. These values are embodied by Olympic and Paralympic athletes - athletes like David Hemery. We are delighted to see great athletes like David working in the spirit of the Bid and investing in young people's growth and development through 21st Century Legacy. I know it will be a great success."
At our National Media Launch held at the British Olympic Association on 9th March 2011, Lord Colin Moynihan, Chairman of the British Olympic Association, said: "This project can take the inspiration of the Games beyond next summer and use athletes, use Paralympians and use Olympians to inspire the next generation. We have to do that. A legacy from the Games is as important as the Games themselves. I am confident that this Programme, this project, can reach into Schools and reach into children's lives in a way that very few others will be able to do so."
